Number of victims from the explosion at a mine in northeast China rose to 87 people

BEIJING, Nov. 22. Number of victims of the accident on the eve of a coal mine “Xinxing” city Hegan northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province has risen in the morning on Sunday to 87 people. Another 21 miner is still considered blocked underground, correspondent of Ukrinform reported.

As China Central Television reported, the location of 8 of the remaining in the mine miners is not possible to determine. Rescuers are trying to get through to him.

Among the 63 workers brought to the hospital with burns and other injuries, at least 6 are in a difficult state.

The explosion occurred at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday morning at a depth of 500 m. There were 528 miners in the mine at the time of the accident. The Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang arrived to the place of the tragedy.

Mine is a state issue and 12 million tons of coal are produced there per year.

The present accident has already become the most serious one this year. In February, the northern province of Shaanxi in the explosion at the mine 78 miners were killed and 114 injured.

Almost 4 years ago, on Nov. 27, 2005, in the same province of Heilongjiang there was an accident in which 171 miners were killed and 48 injured.

And the worst accident in the history of new China was a gas explosion in the coal mine Suntszyavan in the northeastern Liaoning Province on Feb. 15, 2005, which took 215 lives and health of 22 miners. The most tragic event in the world history of the coal mining also took place in China. This happened even before the founding of the PRC, on 26 April 1942 in the occupied by the Japanese militarists north-eastern region of Manchuria, where the accident in the mine took the lives of 1,549 Chinese workers.
