China considers unacceptable to challenge the role of the Soviet Union during World War II and declares the identity of position with the Russian side, said President of China Hu Jintao at the meeting with Prime Minister of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

“In recent years, some forces in the world are attempting to rewrite history to erase an outstanding contribution of the Soviet Union to victory in World War II. On the issue of historical evaluation of the outcome of World War II, we have identical positions with Russian side,” – said Chinese leader.

The head of China stressed that it considers it necessary to strengthen coordination and contact “in order to seriously defend the truth of history”.

“We have agreed to hold a series of activities marking the 65th anniversary of Victory in World War II” – added Hu Jintao.

According to him, China will take the celebration of this anniversary seriously.

In turn, Putin thanked Chinese leader for his visit to Moscow for celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of the Victory, and noted that this indicates a high level of interstate relations.

“What was considered an opportunity to personally come to celebrate the 65 th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War, once again underlines the high level of interstate relations, and your personal attitude towards the development of bilateral Russian-Chinese relations, I am very grateful for it,” – the Premier said.

He noted that Russia and China were allies in World War II and made a general contribution to the defeat of fascism and Japanese militarism.

“Today we share an enormous amount of teamwork and coordinated positions in the international arena and in the economy”, – stressed the head of the Russian government.
