Lots of people all over the world visit the Land of the Rising Sun – China – Every year. The number of travelers is increasing each year, thus i consider it necessary to have a look at typical features of behavior of Chinese people.

Many people visiting a new country experience the feeling what is called cultural shock, namely the rejection of a foreign culture. These little tips will help to get them know better, to understand the the reasons and etymology of such behavior.

First of all is that you must not raise your voice while talking to Chinese. For the Chinese it will be very disappointing and he’ll get angry, because for the Chinese, there is nothing worse than being a laughing stock.

For the Chinese it is also unacceptable to kiss or hug when meeting.

Business people would do well to know that people in China get used to take or give business cards with both hands.

The Chinese do not like to stand in line, this rule applies here: it’s the early bird that gets the worm.

It is interesting that China has no official religion. Only Tibetan region has Buddhism. But the “godless” Chinese people often visit the temple to beg the heavens for money, luck or other benefits.

Many people in the world are fond of Chinese Feng shui which is a ancient Chinese system of aesthetics. Many people in China believe in it and follow it in everyday life.

Although in Europe, feng shui is more a technique for interior decoration, China has kept its deeper meaning.

Old people practice special exercises – taiji – in the morning. It looks like a slow-motion kung fu, it is really worth seeing. There are even special gear for old people to do their morning exercises.

One more quite odd thing is that Chinese go shopping in pijamas and that is treated ok.

It is interesting that it is rather difficult for Chinese to remember European names thus it would be great to have appropriate Chinese name.
