The President of Tajikistan, held talks with a delegation of Chinese Communists, led by a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Politburo and Zhou Yongkang.
According to REGNUM at the press service of Tajik president, the meeting was held in the evening on August 22, at a country residence of Emomalii Rahmon.
Following the results of the meeting, three agreements were signed, including – an Agreement on Cooperation between the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan and the Communist Party of China, the Intergovernmental Agreement on technical and economic cooperation and a memorandum between China and the Republic of Tatarstan on cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Under the Intergovernmental Agreement on technical and economic cooperation, China has allocated 120 million yuan (about 18.76 million U.S. dollars) of grant funds in Tajikistan.
As reported in the press-service, interest in developing cooperation in security and defense, in particular in the field of training and technical assistance, has been expressed at the meeting.
“During the negotiations, it was noted that China was a major partner who invested a lot of money in the Tajik economy.
Chinese companies are involved in the implementation of more than 50 major investment projects of national and regional significance”, – said the source.
Recall that a delegation of Chinese Communists held meetings with the leadership of Tajikistan in two days.
The delegation included national security, the Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister of Security and Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Commerce of the PRC.
